Clam Raker by Jeanne Staples
Jeanne Staples

Jeanne Staples is a classically trained painter. Educated at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the preeminent institution of American realism, Jeanne’s interests range from the evocative and timeless landscapes of Martha’s Vineyard, where she has lived and worked since 1993, to figurative, narrative work and portraits. Her series of 3-D paintings explores the nexus of traditional realism and popular culture.

Jeanne has taught painting and drawing at the Albany Institute of History & Art, the Rensselaer County Council for the Arts, and was Coordinator of Education for the Empire State Plaza Art Collection, and the New York State Governor’s Mansion in Albany. She is a member of the Copley Society of Art in Boston.

Jeanne’s painting, “Lure,” won First Prize in the Martha’s Vineyard Museum’s Island Faces Competition in 2016, and was later exhibited at The Butler Institute of American Art as part of its prestigious Mid-Year Show. Jeanne’s award-winning work is in collections across the United States as well as locally, including the permanent collections of The Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and Farm Neck Golf Club.
