Mussels and Pinot Grigio by Claudio Gasparini

Claudio Gasparini

1957 – 2016

Claudio was a prolific artist specializing in oils who enjoyed painting in a variety of styles from post-impressionist to fauvist.  His abiding theme was deep, rich colors that were sometimes dramatic and imaginative, often painted in expressive layers.

The paintings in this exhibition reflect his years of living on Martha’s Vineyard – sailing, summers at the beach, seafood, Vineyard ferries, landscapes and lighthouses – as well as Mediterranean scenes that include olive trees, cypresses, fields and flowers, and the often-painted lively rooster.
