Afternoon Sun by Kib Bramhall
Kib Bramhall
Kib Bramhall is a long time resident of Martha’s Vineyard. To some he is best known as an artist, to others as a fisherman…remarkably he excels at both. His paintings reveal his ability as master interpreter of the Vineyard landscape that he knows so well, especially where the land abuts water. Many of Mr. Bramhall’s paintings are characterized by almost unnerving accuracy, in detail and palette and lighting, that not only declare the painter’s technical intimacy with his subject, but also invites the viewer to share an emotional connection to it. As if the artist said, “You have to look at it this way, and if you do, you’ll see something, feel something, that you may never have seen before.” 1933 Born in Morristown, New Jersey 1951 Graduated from Hotchkiss School, studied painting under Thomas Blagden 1955 Graduated from Princeton University, BA in Art and Archaeology Lives and paints on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts SOLO EXHIBITIONS 1966 Berresford Gallery.
