ABOUT The Granary Gallery

The Granary Gallery at the red barn has been a favorite destination on Martha’s Vineyard since 1954.  We welcome visitors year-round to enjoy our renowned collection of art and antiques. Celebrated as the oldest and largest gallery on the island, we represent a variety of artists, including painters, photographers, sculptors, craftsman, and jewelers.  Fine art paintings and drawings of landscapes, still-life compositions, and photo-realism by well-known national and local artists exhibit alongside emerging artists in a casual and comfortable atmosphere.  We are proud to be one of the few galleries in the country to exhibit an important collection of historic American photojournalism. We were the first to have limited edition prints for sale by noted Life Magazine photographer, Alfred Eisenstaedt, known as the father of photojournalism. Visit us to see his American classic image, VJ Day in Times Square, as well as works by other iconic American photographers including Arthur Rickerby, Margret Bourke-White, and many contemporary favorites.

With several indoor galleries, an outdoor sculpture lawn, and a beautiful art-filled courtyard garden, the Granary Gallery has something for everyone.  It is the primary destination for the Vineyard art scene. Owners Chris and Sheila Morse, along with their friendly staff, always make a visit to The Granary Gallery an enjoyable experience. Eager to share their knowledge of the Granary artists, interesting places on the Vineyard, and Island life, they invite you to come in, relax, browse, and discover why year after year The Vineyard Gazette has voted The Granary Gallery “Best Art Gallery on Martha’s Vineyard.”

While you are ‘up-island’, don’t forget to visit our sister gallery, The Field Gallery, just down the road at 1050 State Road, West Tisbury.  If you find yourself in the heart of historic Edgartown, visit our newest location, North Water Gallery at 27 North Water Street.
